Iced Tea Cocktail with Rooibos

It’s hot and it’s Saturday (no school for annoying people under 10). Come late afternoon I need a drink and there is nothing to beat sipping this as you watch the sun set.
It’s made with our famous South African tea Rooibos, so you can even call it a health drink. Sort of. Rooibos tea is an excellent source of antioxidants including a unique one called aspalathin. Lab studies also show that the tea slows the ageing process – including the progression of dementia. Good enough for me.
150 ml of strong Rooibos tea – cooled.  Add a cinnamon stick and clove while brewing for extra flavour.
150 ml of Vodka – I don’t think it necessary to list the healthful properties here
50 ml of Van Der Hum – a South African brandy flavoured with tangerine peel, herbs and spices. Triple Sec or Cointreau can be substituted.
300 ml fresh squeezed orange juice
150 ml fresh squeezed grape fruit juice

Combine all the ingredients into a large jug and chill in the fridge until icy cold. Serve in a tall glass over ice cubes. The quantities above can serve four, but they don’t have to.
